Fantasy series Divine Tragicomedy

Allow me to introduce the Inscrutable Ways of Fate, the first volume of our fantasy series, the Divine Tragicomedy. We originally self-published a book by the same title for the Czech market in April 2020. However, after extensive discussions with a professional editor from the UK, we made the crucial decision to craft an entirely new story focusing on the childhood of the main protagonists, thus creating a fresh starting point for English-speaking readers. The events of this new volume take place before the original story, which will be lightly revised and presented in the subsequent books.

To avoid confusion and streamline our efforts, we have discontinued publishing for the small Czech market, choosing instead to devote all our energy to the broader Western audience. While the possibility of returning to Czech publishing alongside the English versions is not entirely off the table, it is not something we are currently considering.

A Journey Through Childhood

The Inscrutable Ways of Fate delves into the childhoods of four main characters, whose paths will eventually intertwine in the following volumes.

Eiri, a wild and untamed girl growing up in the small, uneventful town of Goldiloop, struggles with the strained relationship she has with her mother and finds herself uninterested in typical girlish pursuits.

Pepin, from the serene elven village of Lexaurrin, stands out among the other villagers due to his unique appearance. Though he dreams of becoming a powerful mage, he lacks both intelligence and magical abilities.

Sebas, the second-born son of a renowned ranger from the remote Distemper Hamlet, battles the constant shadow of his older brother’s success. Determined to carve out his own legacy, he seeks a path to fame, one that will finally earn him the recognition he craves.

Hilda, the daughter of a gambler from the bustling city of Silveryloop, navigates a chaotic life filled with uncertainty. Along the way, she unexpectedly finds love and salvation in places she never thought to look.

Their journeys are deeply personal—each one walking their path alone, as we are all born alone, and most of life’s battles must be fought in solitude. Yet, through this solitude, they embark on voyages of self-discovery and growth, learning the cruel lessons of an unjust world.

Coming Soon: Publication and Details

I am currently writing this tale in English, with plans to self-publish it through the KDP Amazon service in the winter of 2025. As highlighted in the previous article on the Divine Tragicomedy series, this book is tailored for adult readers who revel in flowery language, vivid imagery, and atmospheric detail. It features a slow-paced narrative and morally grey characters, all set within a richly medieval world, and is described with a poetic touch.

With an anticipated length of approx. 120,000 words, the Inscrutable Ways of Fate charts nearly a decade of the characters’ lives, encompassing their first forays into intimacy and the pivotal decisions that set them on their destined paths.

Stay tuned for further updates and support us as we bring this world to life.

Yours truly,

Nathaniel Wonderful
