The Introduction of the Divine Tragicomedy
Fantasy series by transgender authors
With great pride, I present to you our book series, Divine Tragicomedy, penned by yours truly in collaboration with my beloved wife, Raine Stonewall. Since 2019, we have been weaving the intricate tapestry of our fantasy realm and its lore, inspired by the rich adventures we’ve embarked upon during our D&D sessions.
To date, we have self-published three volumes in Czech and now writing the Inscrutable Ways of Fate, a new beginning for the series in English. Subsequent volumes will be edited and translated for our Western readers.
We are avid readers of many genres, including non-fiction, poetry, and flamboyant purple prose. For us, reading is not merely a source of amusement but also a wellspring of knowledge, which we delight in sharing with others. We bring a wealth of experience to our writing, including fencing, archery, and the crafting of cold weapons, alongside a fervent interest in psychology, history, and mythology.
Please note that our work is written in British English and is NOT intended for children, young adults, or sensitive readers. We revel in blending reality with fantasy and strive to restore the beauty of rich, evocative language.
Our Style and Intentions
The Divine Tragicomedy series has multiple POVs that traverse a spectrum of fantasy subgenres, from the low fantasy to the dark and epic, much like the varied stages of life itself. Set against a harsh Mediaeval backdrop, seasoned with magic and alchemy, the series immerses readers in traditional crafts, attires, and combat techniques. Despite its historical setting, it serves as a satire of the modern age, reflecting on contemporary issues such as feminism and LGBTQ+ identity.
This is a slow-paced narrative, crafted in a richly descriptive style with the lyrical qualities of classic fantasy, intended to be savoured like an aged wine. It allows for the exploration of morally grey characters and their intricate dramas. Its strengths lie in its vivid imagery, and atmospheric detail with a poetic touch, and occasionally whimsical narrative voice. The series is designed for adult, discerning readers, not only because of its content but also for its rich language, psychological depth, nostalgia, and profound emotional resonance.
The expansive world and rich history of The Divine Tragicomedy are revealed to readers gradually, sparing them the confusion of unfamiliar names and dates or the jarring experience of witnessing the deaths of characters they have yet to grow attached to. Our protagonists are not demigods or chosen saviours of the world but ordinary individuals grappling with existential dilemmas. Readers will journey alongside them, exploring new locations, cultures, languages, creatures, and religions. Some elements of the story are rooted in mythology or history, while others are born of symbolism and imagination.
Looking Ahead
We hope that this series will captivate your imagination and offer you both a retreat and a mirror to the world around us. As we continue to unfold this epic saga, we look forward to sharing more of our world with you, one chapter at a time.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure. Your engagement and feedback are invaluable to us, and we eagerly anticipate your thoughts and reflections as you delve into the realms of The Divine Tragicomedy.
Yours Truly,
Nathaniel Wonderful
